April 22nd 2017. I remember that day vividly – the day I moved out of Leicestershire and start a new adventure 80-odd miles away in Worcester. A year on and I can confidently say that moving to Worcester was the right decision.
For the last week or so, I’ve been looking back at the last 12 months and I’d like to share my reflections with you.

Starting a new chapter is always an exciting point in any story. In the story of 'my life', one chapter closed on the 23rd April 2017, opening the door to another. I took the huge step and moved from Leicester to Worcester.
Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world. I first picked up a racket eight years ago and was hooked from then on. There is something exciting about chasing down a drop shot or unleashing a smash down the line. At the age of 16, my local club called me up to play in their League team for the first time, something which I still see as one of my greatest achievements. badminton is not only great exercise, it also great fun! However, there is another reason why badminton is so important to me.
University is a landmark occasion for many young people. It is a time to live their own lives, meet new people, learn skills and, above all, have fun. In contrast, as many as 1 in 4 students will experience a mental health issue in some form. What is troubling is that many students are worried about coming forward and asking for help.
I should know; I have been there. And to an extent, I still am. During my time at Coventry University, I suffered from depression and anxiety. Coping with the pressures of essay deadlines is hard enough but add those into the equation and university became a great deal tougher. I was at Coventry University for three years, studying journalism and media. I was recently asked if I had enjoyed my time overall, and I would say yes, but late Year 1 going into Year 2 was an especially tough period. That was when I really started to struggle. Just like that, my university journey has come to an end. After studying journalism and media for three years in the city famous for its cathedral and its ring road, the next stage in my life is set to begin.
I've had a lot of ups and downs throughout those three years, but I would say overall it has been a great experience. I've met some wonderful people along the way, all of whom I would like to wish all the best for the future, whatever that may bring. University is a journey of discovery. Students quite often move hundreds, sometimes even thousands of miles to study and live their own lives. Moving from my home in Leicester to study in Coventry was a challenge, but I've learnt a lot of new things. One of these is how to read the Tarot cards. I wouldn't say I'm religious as such, but the Tarot has been a fascination of mine for a number of years. There's something intriguing about how the 78 cards and interpreting their meanings, and as a creative person, I've always admired the designs of the cards as well. Certain cards really resonate with me, like the Four of Cups as you can see below.
Music plays a large part in my life. Lyrics carry powerful messages that can convey the deepest of emotions and a beautifully constructed track can stir repressed feelings. Personally, music helps me understand the world around me and I find that some songs relate to how I am feeling or what I have experienced throughout my life.
