I am pleased to announce that my writing got back on track this week. After the temporary blip of struggling to keep focused on editing Blue Eyes Book Two, this week, I was moving through it with relative ease.
Blue Eyes Book Two (this is just a working title!) is reaching an interesting stage. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I am in an unusual position of editing a WIP that is not currently finished. This week, I started on the last twenty pages of what I had already written, and this means I will soon be letting my creative side loose!
I am really excited to be getting nearer to completing the next chapter in the Blue Eyes story. Having started working on this series at the tender age of 16, it will be an incredible achievement and one I am eagerly anticipating!
Another hit and miss this week. Focusing on something so intently for a long period of time can leave you feeling drained, and like I mentioned last week, forcing yourself into the writing frame of mind can do more harm than good.
I still managed to edit a good portion of Blue Eyes Book 2, but outside commitments have meant that I have not been able to 100% focus on my writing. To any aspiring authors reading this, remember that this will happen, and to not get demoralized. Of course this is difficult, but writing is a marathon and not a sprint.
I am confident that I will be able to get back into the swing of writing and carry on making work that I can be proud of.
This week has been a little bit of a hit and miss this week. Sometimes, focusing and concentrating on something for so long can lead to fatigue, and I believe this is exactly what has happened this week.
A little tip for anyone who is looking to become an author themselves. If you find that you are struggling to get the words down, or if you have a day when your heart just is not in it, do not force the issue. Have a breather, take a walk, and come back to it later or the day after. Your mind will benefit from this rest and what you write next time will be of a much higher quality.
Despite this, I am still happy with how the Blue Eyes Trilogy is progressing. Like with Blue Eyes Behind the Mask, Book 2 is proving to be very fascinating due it being in the unusual position of already being three-quarters finished. Next week, I hope to work a little bit more on my other WIP (work in progress) and start to think about titles as well.
This week has been a very busy one, with several different commitments requiring my attention. Despite this, my writing has been coming along very well.
Book 2 of the Blue Eyes Trilogy (as I have decided to name it) is coming along very well. I have continued to edit the manuscript, which is currently at 50 000 words or thereabouts. What makes this novel particularly interesting at this stage is that it is not completed, so I am working to a slightly different pattern than I normally would. Even so, I am loving every minute I spend on it!
There is still a lot of interest around Heartbound, with a little flurry of sales. I am also hoping to get some copies into a store in Leicester, so keep watching this space for updates!
Here's to another productive week next week!
